Grand Island, Neb. — CHI Health St. Francis hosted a ribbon cutting on Thursday, Dec. 8, to celebrate the completion of the Women’s Imaging Center.
The innovative new facility, located at 2620 West Faidley Ave., has brought the same outstanding staff and excellent patient care previously available at the Grand Island Imaging Center to a beautiful new location. The Women’s Imaging Center is designed to make patients feel comfortable and ensure the best imaging experience, including providing warm gowns and robes.
Jackie Huldt, St. Francis Radiology director, said she’s pleased with the completed project. Huldt, Imaging Services Supervisor Debra Waggoner, Facilities Manager Dave Kozak and former St. Francis president Dan McElligott collaborated with the architectural firm, Cannon Moss Brygger, to design the new center, which is attached to St. Francis.
“We were very adamant about having a space that looked appealing, could be seen from the street and looked a little bit different than the rest of the facility,” Huldt said. “We’re very happy with the results. The architects did a really great job of making efficient use of the space.”
The new location offers convenient front-door parking, simple check-in, easy appointment scheduling and quick results.
“Typically, parking at the front doors here at the hospital hasn’t been the norm, so this has been really nice for our patients,” Huldt said. “Obviously, there are also handicap parking spaces available as well.
“As far as our breast biopsies, we’re here right on campus where the specimens can go directly to the Pathology department. If our patients are having surgery here, they come through the building and they don’t have to go anyplace else.”
The Women’s Imaging Center at St. Francis is the only location in Grand Island offering exclusive women’s imaging, including mammography, breast ultrasound and bone density screenings.
“We have upgraded to 3D for our mammography in addition to our other services that were moved over from the Imaging Center,” Huldt said. “We still have bone-density scans and we have breast ultrasound, but the 3D mammography has been a great addition.”
A donation from the St. Francis Foundation was used to purchase 3D mammography equipment for the Women’s Imaging Center. Renovations in the lobby area were partially funded by donations from the Foundation and St. Francis Auxiliary.
The public is invited to a Women’s Imaging Center open house from 5-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15. Refreshments will be served.
Women above the age of 40 who are due for their next annual screening mammogram are encouraged to schedule with the Women’s Imaging Center directly by calling (308) 398-5588.
