Brabec, Frankforter recognized by St. Francis on Doctors Day

Grand Island, Neb. — CHI Health St. Francis celebrated National Doctors Day on Thursday, March 30, and recognized several outstanding physicians for their excellent work in the medical community.

Dr. Jiri Brabec was presented with the annual Physician Excellence Award. Brabec, who is in neurologist, was presented the award by ­­­­­Dr. Molly Johnson. The other nominees included Dr. Isaac Berg, Dr. Shane Burr, Dr. Jeff Burwell, Dr. Scott Frankforter, Dr. Purva Gumaste, Dr. Melissa Law, Dr. Christopher Seip, and Dr. Gregory Sextro.

Previous winners of the St. Francis Physician Excellence Award are Dr. Michael McGahan (2008), Dr. M. Sitki Copur (2009), Dr. John Cannella (2010), Dr. Timothy Gardner (2011), Dr. Richard Fruehling (2012), Dr. Kim Mickels (2013), Dr. Jennifer Brown (2014), Dr. Corey Ohlson (2015) and Dr. Thomas Nabity (2016).

Dr. Scott Frankforter was the recipient of the Performance Improvement Physician of the Year award.

March 30, 1933, was the first observance of Doctors Day in Winder, Georgia. In 1991, National Doctors Day was proclaimed by President George Bush.
